Hi, friend — welcome back to the edit.
Some days hit harder than others. Everything piles up — tasks, tabs, thoughts — and it all starts to blur.
Lately, I’ve felt like I’ve been living in overdrive. Too many deadlines, too little rest, and that subtle sense of never quite catching up. I noticed it most in the evenings — when I was finally supposed to relax, but instead felt wired, tense, and tired at the same time.
So I started doing something I hadn’t done in a while: I slowed down on purpose.
Now, instead of powering through the overwhelm, I reach for the rituals that help me return to myself. Small, comforting things that shift the energy of the space — and my body, too.
Here’s my go-to comfort ritual for those too-much days — in the order I usually follow it.
Step 1: Lower the Volume
Literally. I start by dimming the lights and putting on something calm, with a soft but present sound, often rain sounds.
Lately, I’ve been loving the Marshall Acton III Bluetooth Home Speaker.

Its warm, vintage-inspired design fits beautifully into my space, and the sound fills the room without overwhelming it. Shop it here.
Step 2: Scent the Room
Next, I turn on my Vitruvi Air Diffuser.
It’s waterless (so no steam or noise), and the ceramic design is stunning — it looks like a sculptural object. I usually add something grounding like cedar or lavender, depending on the mood.
The scent fills the space in minutes and instantly resets my nervous system.
Step 3: Sit Down with Something That Has Your Attention
What helps the most is slowing down with a beautiful book. Right now, I’m reaching for LifeStyled by Shira Gill — a guide to living more intentionally, with organizing tips and beautiful photography.

It’s both inspiring to read and lovely to leave on the coffee table.
And if I’m not reading, I usually reach for my journal instead. It’s like a reset button, and it always makes the rest of the night feel a little lighter.
Step 4: End with Body Care
The last step is always physical comfort — slowing down in my body, not just my mind.
After a warm shower or bath, I use THISWORKS Deep Sleep Body Whip.
It’s rich, calming, and infused with the same scent as their sleep spray (plus magnesium, which helps relax muscles). I massage it in slowly while breathing deeply. Shop here.
Comfort rituals aren’t about productivity. They’re not about “fixing” anything.
They’re about creating moments of peace in the middle of chaos — and reminding yourself that you deserve to feel okay.
Even on the hard days.
Especially on the hard days.
Until next time —
Stay intentional, stay inspired.
